Maria Moctezuma is a musician and activist of the arts. Her signature Raizoso music is modern Mexican Folk Fusion. She has traveled the world with her musical project, giving concerts in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Japan, Austria, Hungary, the United States, and Mexico. She is originally from Villahermosa Tabasco, where the social inequalities and petrochemical exploitation ingrained her with the feeling of deep responsibility to spread and defend Mexican culture.

Her broad love for the land and respect for her roots has led her to create lyrical and musical content inspired by the Mayan culture, her selected home base, which is reflected in her four albums "Revolución folklorica", "Tierra Animal", "Palpitará" and her most recent discography called "Xmajaná". The latter was produced by Hernán Hecht, who is a winner of a Production
Latin Grammy.

Said records are instrumented with clay ocarinas, guitar, percussion, drums, bass, accordion, panpipe, among other instruments, creating all the songs and most of the musical arrangements herself. She has composed music for different plays and the documentary "Hecho en México" by the English director Duncan Bridgeman. She is currently preparing her next show "Midwife" that, in addition to premiering it in Yucatan and other states of the Mexican Republic, will be present in her 5th Europe tour from February this upcoming 2023.

Beyond her own music project, she is the producer of the Hanal Balam festival, which takes
place every year in November to celebrate the Day of the Dead in one of Yucatan’s most
marginalized communities. She also works as cultural advisor of the Supreme Mayan Council of Yucatan. Furthermore, she participates in "Creepy Hunters, the mystery of the cenote" an original series of Spotify playing the role of "the Witch". It should be noted that she has been named "Ambassador of culture" by different media for the arduous independent work of promoting her Mexican roots inside and outside the country.
